PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am not practicing bodywork at this time. Please check back here for updates. Stay safe and keep up to date on the latest information from the CDC and the WHO. And please remember, it is VERY important to feel whatever feelings of grief/loss/fear that are coming up AND to consciously, every day, connect with beautiful, comforting people/things/thoughts...whatever that is for you that produces a warm fuzzy feeling inside that means you are generating helpful endorphins and oxytocin. This will help keep your brain from being in a constant state of trauma with longer-term effects.
YOU GOT THIS! I AM LOVING YOU FROM AFAR!
Polarity, Craniosacral and Massage can all be beneficial to women babies and small children in the various stages of pregnancy, birth and early stages of life.
If you are pregnant, Massage can help soothe and comfort you throughout the stages of your pregnancy. Regular work can help circulation and blood flow, as well as help relieve trigger points, sore muscles, and pain patterns throughout the body. Craniosacral and Polarity work can also help support your own energy flow and alignment as well as the growing energy field shared between you and your baby. It can also help the pelvis structure stay mobile so when it needs to accommodate the baby's passage, you will be able to more easily.
Coming into a new world can be quite a shock to the system, so no matter what kind of birth you and your baby go through, bodywork soon after can be extremely beneficial for helping release any acquired trauma for you both. With a vaginal birth, the pelvis has to expand tremendously while the baby's cranium is compressed in the birth canal. Craniosacral work can help the bones and fascial structures for both you and your baby come back into alignment.
With a Cesarean birth, both Mom and baby can hold onto the pharmaceuticals used in the process and Craniosacral can help the tissues release these chemicals, as well as supporting the healing process for the incision itself. As with any surgery, the nervous system can hold onto a fight/flight or freeze response long after the event is over, so early intervention can help the system release this potential. Craniosacral can also be beneficial in helping babies who are having trouble latching.
Small children can also benefit greatly from Polarity, Craniosacral, and Massage work, from helping them be more in balance and comfortable in their bodies to releasing any residual birth trauma or acquired traumas as life has progressed. Sometimes behavioral or emotional issues are simply a result of an imbalance in the energy system. Also, If a child is in need of braces, Craniosacral can help the energy flow that could be compromised with this restriction.
Dr. William Sutherland was an Osteopath who originally discovered the cranial rhythms and began the early practice of Craniosacral Therapy. At the end of his career, he was so sought after that he decided to work only on babies and children. It was here he felt he could have the most impact. Babies and small children are so malleable in their structure and nervous system that the work moves much more quickly, and unwinding imbalances at this early age can be extremely helpful for the present and the future.
For a pregnant Mom, the session will be the regular time of an hour or an hour and a half. For an infant or small child, the session will generally last 20-30 minutes. We can also do a session with both you and your baby at the same time. Please bring any special or comforting toys or books as this can be very helpful for small children.
"Kathy’s bodywork was absolutely essential to my physical and energetic health throughout my pregnancies. Her combination of Massage, Polarity, and Craniosacral work relieved pregnancy-related pain and stress in my muscles and tissues as well as supporting a clear path for energy flow. I truly believe that babies are touched deeply by this experience and can feel the energetic support as well! Kathy is truly gifted in her work, her communication style, and her professionalism. Treat yourself (and your babies) to as many sessions as you can get with this amazing bodyworker!"
